SUMMARY:NYC Climate Justice Youth Summit
DESCRIPTION:The CJYS is the largest gathering of young people of color on climate change in NYC. Last year more than 750 young adults came to the event and were later mobilized to be part of the frontline at the People’s Climate March\, the largest climate march in history. \nWe have partnered with community-based organizations throughout the city and the Climate Justice Alliance to support the Summer of Our Power: a campaign focused on transitioning frontline communities (low income communities of color) to become climate adaptable. \nOur goals for the Summit include the following: \n\nUnderstanding core concepts of climate and ecological science\nGrounding in biological and cultural diversity as well as tradition and ancestry\nReal Solutions and False Promises to the ecological crisis\nJust Transition framework and strategies\n Tools on how to operationalize Just Transitions\n\nAdditionally\, we will have our infamous Justice Concert with a fantastic political artist/activist\, great prizes\, and plenty of giveaways. So we want you to come\, enjoy the food\, and learn more about Climate Justice and its importance to our communities. \n http://uproseclimateyouthsummit.blogspot.com
