“Dancing Solar Flowers” is sustainable and artistic engineering
A world renewed, Belgian artist and engineer Alexandre Dang recently opened the exhibit “Dancing Solar Flowers” at John Jay College of Criminal Justice as part of the 50th anniversary of the college. The exhibit consists of small solar flower pasted onto the windows of the college’s new building. The flowers shimmy using the solar power they harness from the sunlight coming into the largely glass building. Mr. Dang gave a workshop to students in the Prof. Milena Popov’s Introduction to Sustainability Studies course about how he developed his solar flowers idea. He told the students he was delighted with the welcome he received at the college and has promised to come give a workshop via Skype next semester to sustainability students about his continual project to create sustainable art.
