IFC (Manhattan) is currently showing a documentary, “Food Chains,” which exposes the abuse of farmworkers within the U.S. Farmworkers are the the foundation of our food industry, but routinely face abuse, including their wages being robbed. “Food Chains” explores the human cost of our food supply and the role that large buyers of produce like fast food and supermarkets play in perpetuating an unjust system. Over the past 3o years, the documentary explains, fast food and supermarkets have drained revenue from their supply chain leaving workers in poverty, forced to work in inhumane conditions.
