Internships, Graduate Study and Careers
HOW DO YOU GET CREDIT FOR AN INTERNSHIP IN THE EJ MINOR?
The way you receive credit for an internship in the EJ minor is to sign up for an internship connected to the academic topics of the minor through the College internship program, take a College internship course, and then ask the minor coordinator for a course substitution so the course will count as an elective in the minor.
WHERE IS THE COLLEGE’S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM? The College’s internship program is managed by The Center for Career & Professional Development. (http://www.jjay.cuny.edu/internship-program) Center for Career & Professional Development
Location: L72.00 New Building 524 West 59th Street New York, NY 10019
Phone: (212) 237-8754 Fax: (212) 237-8440 E: [email protected]
Internship experiences may be completed for academic credit (by enrolling in one of the many internship courses offered at John Jay), for pay (about 25% of the internships we post on John Jay Careers Online are paid), or more commonly as a pre-professional unpaid work experience. If you think you are ready to complete an internship, make an appointment to speak with any of our career counselors who can help you think about your options and create a plan.
HOW DO YOU SEE WHAT INTERNSHHIPS ARE LISTED WITH THE COLLEGE? JJ CAREERS ON LINE
You go to the career professional development website (http://www.jjay.cuny.edu/center-career-professional-development ) which has a careers on-line log-in for students. You sign in and gain access to the list which has a wide variety of opportunities.
ARE THERE ANY INTERNSHIPS CONNECTED WITH EJ FACULTY?
Not currently.

American Museum of Natural History Summer Internship Program
The Museum Education and Employment Program (MEEP) is a paid summer internship for college-age youth. MEEP interns are responsible for developing and presenting themed tours to visiting camp groups, and engaging visitors at educational touch carts in the Museum halls. The program provides on-the-job training and exposure to careers in science, museum education, and related fields. Participants work closely with Museum scientists and educators exploring scientific content and learning valuable skills for working with and teaching learners of all ages. MEEP is a great opportunity for young adults to have an impact on the experiences of thousands of Museum visitors.
For more information about eligibility and requirements, see http://www.amnh.org/learn-teach/post-secondary/museum-education-and-employment-program or contact [email protected]
